Driving on roadways in Tennessee and across the country has certain potential hazards. As a result, there are multiple laws in place — including speed limits and those that determine who has the right of way — that are intended to prevent car accidents. Unfortunately, failing to follow these laws could have serious consequences. In fact, the family of a deceased woman may choose to file a wrongful death lawsuit after a recent crash resulted in the loss of her life.
According to reports, the accident happened in the early morning hours of a day in June. Police believe that a southbound sports utility vehicle was attempting to make a left turn onto a roadway. Unfortunately, reports claim that the SUV turned into the path of a northbound vehicle.
The force of the impact caused the SUV to overturn. A 23-year-old woman who was a front seat passenger in the SUV died as a result of injuries suffered in the collision. Its driver is currently in the hospital. No other injuries were reported. While no criminal charges have been filed, police are still awaiting the results of blood tests.
The family of the deceased woman will likely have several decisions to make over the course of the days and weeks following the car accident. Many families in Tennessee who have lost a loved one due to another person’s negligence may decide to file a wrongful death lawsuit. If claims of negligence can be proved, these families could receive a financial award to help them cope with funeral costs and other financial ramifications of the unexpected death of a loved one.
