Car accidents claim lives in Tennessee

Tennessee has traffic laws in place to protect the public. These laws govern speed, distracted driving, passing and a multitude of other subjects. When these traffic laws are violated, car accidents are likely to occur.

In one recent accident, one person was killed, and three others were injured. In this case, it appears that traffic laws related to passing were violated. Apparently, one driver in the northbound lane attempted to pass another. As he pulled into the southbound lane to pass, he crashed into a vehicle that was traveling in the southbound lane.

The damage to the vehicles was such that the occupants had to be extricated by emergency personnel. The southbound driver was airlifted and later declared dead at the University of Tennessee hospital. The passenger in this car was also injured and transported to receive medical attention. The northbound driver who appears to have caused the accident and his passenger received injuries as well. They were transported to local hospitals.

An investigation into this accident is still ongoing, and no charges have been reported as of yet. However, it is likely that the driver who attempted to pass the other vehicle will face several traffic-related charges in this accident. It is also possible that the victims’ families will pursue civil actions.

Car accidents occur on an almost daily basis throughout Tennessee. Fortunately, the majority of them are not as tragic as this one. However, when such a tragedy does occur, the family of the deceased and any surviving victims will likely face a variety of financial obstacles, including medical bills and possible lost income during recovery. If this happens, there are legal remedies that may assist in the financial part of the recovery process.
