Auto accidents occur due to many reasons. Crowded highways, inexperienced or distracted drivers, and those who choose to operate a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or illegal substances are often the leading factors. As the population in many Tennessee suburban areas continues to grow, the roadways are seeing a steady increase in vehicles. With more people behind the wheel at any given moment, deadly car accidents are on the rise.

A car accident occurred around 3:15 p.m. on a busy highway. Authorities responded to a call of a three-car crash with possible severe injuries. Police reports indicate that a driver drifted left of center and struck another vehicle head-on.

The 74-year-old driver of the purportedly at-fault vehicle died as a result of injuries sustained in the accident. The driver of the car that was hit head-on was also injured. The extent of those injuries has not been released. The driver of the third vehicle was unable to avoid the crash but was not injured. Police continue to investigate.

Car accidents can happen at any time and for any reason. Should a Tennessee resident be injured or fatally wounded in a car accident that is found to be the fault of another driver, the victim can file a personal injury claim in a Tennessee civil court. If the operator of the offending vehicle perishes as a result of injuries sustained in the accident, the estate of the guilty party could be held responsible. Any monies received from a successful claim can help to cover medical costs incurred and final costs.
