Tennessee car accidents: Man killed by intoxicated driver

There are many precautions that drivers in Tennessee take to protect their safety. However, in many cases, it is impossible to prevent car accidents caused by drivers who are under the influence of alcohol. Unfortunately, one man was killed in a recent accident believed to have been caused by a driver who was intoxicated.

The accident happened during the early morning hours of a day in July. According to reports, a car left an exit ramp, striking a sign. Police say that the car continued on into lanes of traffic, ultimately driving into oncoming traffic.

The vehicle reportedly struck another car head-on before coming to a stop. The driver of the second vehicle passed away as a result of injuries suffered in the collision. It is unclear if the driver of the first car was injured, but he has since been charged with several crimes, including vehicular homicide due to intoxication and aggravated assault/reckless driving.

Many families in Tennessee and across the country are unprepared for the financial toll created by the unexpected death of a loved one. As a result, those who lost loved ones in car accidents caused by negligent drivers often choose to pursue damages in a civil court. If the court rules in their favor, they could receive a monetary award to help them manage funeral expenses and lost wages, among other costs associated with their loss. An attorney with experience with such cases can help these victims fully understand their options and initiate appropriate action.
