Tennessee car accidents often have tragic consequences

Most Tennessee parents are careful about with whom they let their children spend time. They want to know who their friends are, and they want to meet their friends’ parents. Additionally, parents are often cautious about who they let their children ride with in a car. They want to make sure that the driver is responsible and will follow applicable traffic laws. They know that car accidents can easily happen.

Recently, a 14-year-old Tennessee boy was a passenger in a vehicle driven by a 37-year-old man. In addition to these two, there were two other passengers in the car. The driver apparently lost control of the car and crashed into a tree. It is estimated that the car had been going approximately 85 mph and had only slowed to 70 mph upon impact.

The driver and 14-year-old boy were declared dead at the accident site. Another passenger later died at the hospital, and one other teenage passenger was treated for injuries and released. The exact relationship of the individuals involved is unknown; however, it appears that they were friends rather than family.

In this particular case, the driver appears to have used flawed judgment in his decision to speed. This decision resulted in three tragic deaths. Additionally, several families now must live with this tragedy.

Car accidents can change lives forever. Although the driver of the vehicle did not survive, it is possible that the families of those injured or killed in this accident may decide to file a claim against his estate. In addition to the emotional turmoil they are experiencing, there will be medical and funeral expenses to pay. A claim presented in a Tennessee civil court may provide these families with the financial assistance that they will need.
