Car accidents too often prematurely end promising lives

The unexpected death of a loved one is a horrible shock to bear in Tennessee. The shock and pain are magnified when the loved one is a child on the brink of adulthood with his or her life just beginning. A beloved 17-year-old high school senior was recently killed as the result of one of many car accidents that occur on local roadways.

The young man, a wide receiver on his high school football team, was driving north on Shelbyville Highway. A truck heading south came around a curve, and a loose bale of hay fell from the back of his truck. The bale hit the windshield of the 17-year-old's car, causing it to veer out of control and crash. He died as a result of his injuries.

The accident happened at about 3:00 in the afternoon, so visibility should not have been an issue. It is not known whether speed or alcohol played a role in the crash. A blood alcohol content (BAC) was requested, which is normal protocol in the event of a fatal accident. The details of the accident remain under investigation.

Watching children grow and excel at things they love is one of the most treasured joys of parenting. When a child is cut down just as he or she is approaching adulthood, a family is robbed of the continued joy the child may have brought them. The resulting pain may never go away. While no one in Tennessee can turn back time and undo fatal car accidents, a conversation with a legal professional can provide information on whether a personal injury lawsuit against the party deemed responsible is a viable option.
