Tragic drowning leads to wrongful death suit

Summer is here and young children in Tennessee venture outside to play and explore their surroundings. Children are curious about all that they see and are not always aware of the dangers that may present themselves. This can be particularly true when water is involved. Sadly, tragedies can occur that may ultimately result in a wrongful death lawsuit.

In a tragic accident in another state, a young boy was playing near a drainage system. There had been recent heavy rains and the boy fell into the ditch. The swift moving water carried him into the drainage system and he drowned.

The suit was brought by the boy's parents. It notes that the culvert feeds into the main drainage system and that it is an area that attracts exploration by young children. The suit further claims that the city had been made aware of the danger and had failed to act. There is no grating or guard rail at the site.

The sudden death of a child in Tennessee is one of the most painful experiences any parent may have to bear. The grief and shock can be overwhelming and may give way to anger. As a family comes to grips with their loss, they may want to find answers as to why and how such a tragedy happened. The family and loved ones may want to seek the counsel of an experienced personal injury attorney. A knowledgeable lawyer can review the circumstances of the accident and assist the client in determining if a wrongful death suit is an option.
