Truck accidents cause major highway back up in Tennessee

Truck drivers have a tremendous responsibility while on the road. The over-sized vehicles they commandeer are larger than most, and other motorists may not be as considerate as they should be. The ability to maneuver the truck within the limited spaces available on Tennessee roads and having quick reflexes while operating the vehicle can be challenging. Truck accidents can occur even with the best road conditions, as the sheer size and weight of the truck make slowing down or stopping to avoid an accident incredibly hard.

An accident involving a tractor-trailer shut down a busy interstate for hours late last week. According to reports, a tractor-trailer rear-ended a car, which caused the struck vehicle to strike the car in front of it. The car that was initially rear-ended was that of Tennessee Comptroller Chief of Staff, Jason Mumpower.

After rear-ending the car in front of him, Mumpower's car then rolled on to the side of the highway. The Comptroller suffered a broken left arm, cracked ribs and other minor injuries. Authorities commented that the one big accident caused many smaller accidents, but, thankfully, no one was killed.

Truck accidents occur more often than one may think. Some may consider settling with an insurance company, but that may not cover all financial hardships the victim and his or her family may endure. Seeking the counsel of a Tennessee lawyer with experience in truck accidents can help victims to determine the extent of all losses and take the appropriate legal course of action.
