With the advancement of technology, some of the coolest and most innovative toys are constantly introduced to the consumer market. Robots that respond to commands and can clean a room along with hoover boards are the stuff movies were once made of but are now in use in many Tennessee homes. Recently, The Consumer Product Safety Commission listed seven hover board recalls, stating that these dangerous products have serious issues that can harm users, most of whom are children.
According to reports, the boards that have sold well in stores and online were recalled as early as 2016 due to the lithium-ion battery packs. These packs give the boards power but pose seriously dangerous risks. The commission says tests and reports have shown that the batteries can overheat, which can cause the toys to emit smoke, catch fire or even explode.
The CPSC is urging users to avoid riding them and contact the company or the manufacturer. The boards were manufactured and distributed between 2016 and 2017. The company is providing free replacements.
With the approaching holiday season, these toys may be on many wish lists. Prior to the recall, or even afterwards, some may have suffered burns or other serious injuries from these dangerous products. Should a Tennessee resident fall victim to a faulty product, pursuing claims for financial relief from the manufacturer and/or others in the consumer supply line may be an option.
