Traffic laws and speed restrictions are in place on all roads to help ensure that drivers and their passengers arrive safely at their intended destinations. Most people who operate a motor vehicle are on the defensive when they drive, which helps in decreasing the likelihood of car accidents in Tennessee. Some drivers become distracted or get behind the wheel while they are under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Authorities were called to the scene of a deadly accident on a busy road. One vehicle was heading north and the other was heading south. The vehicle heading north crossed the center lane and struck the southbound car head on.
The driver of the offending vehicle, a 40-year-old female, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle, a 21-year-old female was also pronounced dead at the scene. The two passengers of the southbound car, a 24-year-old male and a 3-year-old male, were airlifted and taken to a local hospital. Authorities continue to investigate.
Being involved in a car accident can have devastating consequences. Family members are left without a loved one and others injured in the accident could incur a serious amount of medical bills and lost wages. Victims of Tennessee car accidents or surviving family members can seek financial relief in civil court if the driver of the other vehicle has been proved to be at fault. Should the driver of the at-fault vehicle perish in the accident, seeking compensation from the estate of the deceased is possible with the aid of an experienced Tennessee attorney.
