Recent Tennessee crash potential case of wrongful death

The vast majority of drivers in Tennessee are vigilant and take measures to avoid car accidents. Unfortunately, many accidents happen so quickly that even the safest of drivers are unable to properly react. Unfortunately, a woman recently lost her life in a crash that could potentially result in a wrongful death lawsuit.

The incident that led to the woman's death reportedly happened just after 7 a.m. on a day in early July. According to reports, a 31-year-old male was driving west on a Tennessee interstate when he allegedly lost control of his vehicle, causing him to cross the median and hit an oncoming tractor-trailer. The driver of the tractor-trailer then lost control, causing it to cross the media into westbound traffic.

The truck struck a westbound sedan driven by a 43-year-old woman. That woman ultimately passed away due to the injuries she suffered in the collision. The man believed to have been driving the first car as well as a passenger in the deceased victim's car were injured. Reports indicate that no charges have been filed as a result of the accident; however, the accident likely remains under investigation.

While an investigation will determine whether criminal charges are appropriate, the family of the deceased woman will still be left coping with the emotional and financial ramifications of their loss. Regardless of whether charges are ultimately filed, surviving family members have the option of filing a wrongful death lawsuit as a result of the Tennessee crash. If claims of negligence are successfully presented, they could receive an award of damages to help them cope with funeral expenses and lost wages, among other expenses.
