Wrongful death: Tennessee police seek hit-and-run driver

When headed to work in the early morning hours, the last thing a person wants to deal with is the aftermath of a car accident. However, anyone in Tennessee or other areas of the country who are involved in an accident are legally obligated to stop and contact police. Unfortunately, one man recently lost his life when he was struck by a vehicle as he attempted to exchange information after a minor accident. In what could ultimately result in a wrongful death lawsuit, police say that the driver of the vehicle that struck the man failed to remain at the scene.

The incident happened at approximately 5:30 in in the morning on a day in April. According to reports, a vehicle driven by a 54-year-old man was struck by a sports utility vehicle. Both drivers exited their vehicle to exchange information, but the man was struck by another vehicle. He was reportedly pinned between vehicles before being dragged. He died at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle who allegedly struck the man is said to have fled the scene. Reports indicate that there was a male driver and passenger, and the vehicle likely sustained significant damage to its front. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.

While police look for answers, the family of the deceased man are facing a terrible tragedy. Although reports indicate that police do not currently have anyone in custody, with the technology they have available to them, it may not take long to locate the vehicle. While the driver will likely face criminal charges, the family members of the deceased Tennessee man have the option of seeking recompense by filing a wrongful death lawsuit.
