Tennessee pedestrian accident could lead to wrongful death claim

On Behalf of | Aug 7, 2017 | Wrongful Death

There are a variety of different ways to legally utilize the roadways in Tennessee. Because motor vehicles aren’t the only accepted mode of transportation and they can cause significant harm to others — especially pedestrians — motorists must remain vigilant at all times. Unfortunately, a man’s family may be considering a wrongful death lawsuit after he was allegedly struck while walking.

The incident happened just before midnight on a night in early August. Police claim that a driver struck a parked car before striking a pedestrian. The same car allegedly continued on, striking another vehicle head-on and causing severe damage to both vehicles.

Unfortunately, the pedestrian passed away as a result of injuries suffered in the collision. Reports indicate that the road was closed for several hours as police officers gathered evidence. While at least one of the drivers was being evaluated at the scene, it is unclear if anyone else was injured or required hospitalization. The identities of those involved in the crash were not immediately available.

Even a split second of inattention can easily lead to an accident with fatal consequences. Unfortunately, a family is now dealing with the devastating news of an unexpected loss. To help ensure they are able to cope with the financial consequences of their loss, including lost wages and funeral expenses, they may choose to file a wrongful death lawsuit if they feel it can be proved that the Tennessee man’s death was the result of negligence. An attorney with experience with such cases can help surviving family members evaluate their case and take action as necessary.
