Tennessee car accidents: Charges pending after wrong-way crash

There are many hazards that a defensive driver can anticipate and avoid. For example, drivers are encouraged to obey traffic signs and drive defensively. Unfortunately, it is often difficult to recognize and respond to car accidents caused by drivers headed the wrong way on the interstate in the dark. Two people were recently injured in an alleged wrong-way collision in Tennessee.

The incident reportedly happened after 5 one morning on a day in April. Police reports indicate that a 26-year-old woman was westbound in eastbound lanes. Unfortunately, she struck an eastbound vehicle driven by a 28-year-old man.

Both the man and woman were transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. The extent of their injuries is unclear. As the investigation into the incident is ongoing, police have released few details regarding the collision but claim that criminal charges are pending.

An accident such as this can often result in serious, life-changing injuries. While the injured man receives the treatment he needs, he will likely miss work, resulting in lost wages, creating even more concern over how he will pay his medical bills and other expenses. Many people in Tennessee who are victims of car accidents choose to file a personal injury lawsuit if they were injured as a result of a negligent driver. If successfully presented, they could receive an award of damages that will help them cope with medical costs, among other monetary losses. An attorney with experience with such cases can help these victims fully understand their options and initiate legal action when appropriate.
